What is a thigh lift?

This surgical procedure involves a comprehensive approach to address excess fat and loose skin, primarily in the thigh area. It offers two potential types of scars, horizontal or vertical, depending on the specific areas targeted. The process begins with significant liposuction to remove excess fat and sculpt the thighs, creating a more contoured appearance. Following this, excess skin is carefully removed to achieve a smoother and firmer look. The choice between horizontal and vertical scars is determined by the areas with fat deposits and skin laxity. This procedure aims to enhance both the aesthetics and function of the thighs, providing patients with improved comfort and confidence. The choice of scar type and the surgical plan will be discussed thoroughly during a consultation with a skilled plastic surgeon.

I'm afraid about the scar; are there any alternative options?

There is another option available. We can perform thighs liposuction using Vaser and J-Plasma. These devices can assist in tightening the skin after liposuction. This approach allows us to address excess fat without the need for cutting or lifting. It's a suitable option for individuals with moderate arm fat and good skin quality. However, a thorough consultation is essential to determine if this option is suitable for you. When the skin is already loose, the most effective option is a thigh lift surgery, which may involve a scar.

I require an thigh lift. What can be done to enhance the appearance of the scar?

Your concern about scarring is completely understandable and a common one among patients considering surgery. I am dedicated to providing the best care not only during the surgery but also in the post-operative healing process, especially in managing scars. We utilize advanced laser therapies to aid in scar reduction and healing. During surgery, we use the Urgotouch laser, which is designed to minimize scarring as the incisions heal. Post-surgery, we offer treatments with a CO2 laser, a technology known for its effectiveness in improving the appearance of scars by promoting skin resurfacing and regeneration. Additionally, I offer innovative options like stem cell therapy with SVF (Stromal Vascular Fraction) and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments after the surgery. These therapies utilize your body's natural healing mechanisms to further enhance the healing process and improve the appearance of scars. Stem cell therapy with SVF involves using your own cells to encourage tissue regeneration, while PRP involves using the growth factors in your blood to promote healing and skin quality.

I've seen impressive before-and-after photos of your thigh lift procedures. What's the secret behind these remarkable results?

Thigh lift is indeed a unique procedure, and many patients may not realize the significant volume of fat that can accumulate in the thighs. In some cases, this volume can exceed 10 liters of fat per thigh. However, during the procedure, it's essential to prioritize safety, and typically, I can remove a maximum of 6 liters of fat to avoid any potential risks. The key to achieving the desired outcome is understanding that multiple surgeries may be necessary. Usually, a minimum of 3 months is recommended between two thigh lift procedures to allow for proper recovery. Removing such a substantial amount of fat can result in significant fatigue and exhaustion.

Should I do babies before my thigh lift?

A frequent question we encounter from women considering thigh lift is whether they should have children before undergoing the procedure. This is an important consideration, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect the size and shape of the body fat repartition, potentially altering the results of the surgery.  If you plan to have children in the near future, you may wish to postpone the surgery until after completing your family. However, if pregnancy is not planned for several years, you might choose to proceed with the surgery.

When can I resume sport activities?

It's important for patients to understand that the recovery period can vary, and returning to physical activity should be a gradual process. Typically, light activities, such as walking, can be resumed within a few days post-surgery, aiding circulation and recovery. However, it's crucial to avoid strenuous activities, especially those that involve the chest muscles like weight lifting for at least four to six weeks. This allows the body to properly settle and the incision sites to heal. High-impact activities, such as running or jumping, should be reintroduced slowly and only after one month after the surgery.

What are the risks of a thigh lift?

Thigh lift surgery, while offering transformative results, carries certain risks and potential complications that should be considered. In particular, the proximity to the anatomical pubic area, which tends to have a higher bacterial presence and is prone to maceration, increases the risk of infection and scar dehiscence. To mitigate these risks, it is crucial for patients to adhere to a strict post-operative hygiene regimen, which includes daily showers without dressings. This practice is essential in reducing the risk of infection and promoting proper healing in this sensitive area. However, it's essential to discuss these risks thoroughly with your surgeon and follow their guidance closely to ensure a safe and successful thigh lift surgery.
