Fat transfer

What is a nanofat?

Nanofat is a refined form of fat grafting used primarily for skin rejuvenation. In this procedure, fat is harvested from the patient's body (usually from areas like the abdomen or thighs) through liposuction. This fat is then subjected to a special processing technique that emulsifies and filters it, breaking it down into a very fine, liquid form.

The key feature of nanofat is its rich content of stem cells and growth factors. When injected into the facial skin, it doesn't provide the volume or bulk typical of traditional fat grafting but instead aims to improve skin quality. Nanofat is particularly effective for treating finer lines, improving skin texture, and enhancing overall skin tone and vitality.

This treatment's regenerative properties make it an increasingly popular option for non-invasive facial rejuvenation, offering a natural alternative to synthetic fillers. As it uses the patient's own tissue, it is generally well-tolerated and has a lower risk of allergic reactions or rejection.

Is nanofat a safe procedure?

Nanofat injections are generally safe as they utilize the patient's own fat, minimizing allergic reactions or rejection risks. However, risks such as infection, bruising, swelling, irregularities in skin texture, and temporary numbness exist. Additionally, the results may have limited longevity due to the body reabsorbing some of the injected fat. As with any aesthetic procedure, there's also the potential for unsatisfactory results.

When can I resume sport activities?

There is a minimal downtime period of 3-5 days, during which sports should be avoided.

What are the risk and complications of nanofat injection in the face?

While leveraging the body's natural tissues minimizes certain risks, potential complications include infection, bruising, swelling, skin texture irregularities, and temporary numbness. The longevity of results varies, as the body may reabsorb the injected fat. Additionally, there's a risk of asymmetry, over or undercorrection, and in rare cases, necrosis of fat cells.
