Before/After

What is a body lift also called belt-lift?

A belt lift is a dramatic transformative procedure that combines several surgical techniques to rejuvenate and contour the entire lower body. This comprehensive approach includes 360° liposuction, which effectively removes excess fat from various areas, sculpting the body's contours. Additionally, a butt lift enhances the buttocks' shape and position, giving a fuller and lifted appearance. A lateral thigh lift targets sagging skin and tissue on the sides of the thighs, creating a smoother and firmer look. Finally, a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, focuses on tightening abdominal muscles and removing excess skin, resulting in a flatter and more toned midsection. This combination of procedures, known as a belt lift, offers patients a holistic solution to achieve a balanced and youthful lower body contour.

Can we perform a diastasis repair at the same time?

Yes, a belt lift is a combination of different procedures. The tuA muscle diastasis refers to the separation of the left and right abdominal muscles, specifically the rectus abdominis muscles. This separation often occurs due to factors like pregnancy or significant weight gain, which cause the abdominal muscles to stretch and move apart along the midline of the body. During the tummy tuck, the surgeon can repair and suture the muscles together, creating a corset-like effect to strengthen the abdominal wall. This can remove back pain and contribute to achieving a flat and aesthetically pleasing stomach.

What is the key information I should be aware of regarding a body lift?

A belt lift is a complete 360° surgery that leaves a scar that goes all the way around and will be hidden by underwear. This surgery involves a lot of fat removal with liposuction, tissue dissection, and skin lifting. There's a higher chance of the scar opening up, especially in the back near the crease between the buttocks, because of skin tension. To reduce this risk, patients should avoid sitting for three weeks after the surgery. They can stand or lie down instead

Can we use VASER liposuction?

Yes, the Vaser liposuction device can be used at the same time during the body lift to have a more defined abdomen. Vaser lipo, is a specialized form of liposuction that uses ultrasound technology to break up and emulsify fat, making it easier to remove. "Vaser" stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. In this procedure, ultrasound waves are delivered through small probes that liquefy fat cells while preserving other tissues like nerves and blood vessels. This technique allows for more precise fat removal and is especially useful for sculpting and defining underlying muscles, making it a popular choice for high-definition body contouring. Vaser lipo is less invasive than traditional liposuction, often resulting in less pain and quicker recovery times.

Should I do babies before my body lift?

A frequent question we encounter from women considering body lift is whether they should have children before undergoing the procedure. This is an important consideration, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect the size and shape of the body fat repartition, potentially altering the results of the surgery.  If you plan to have children in the near future, you may wish to postpone the surgery until after completing your family. However, if pregnancy is not planned for several years, you might choose to proceed with the surgery.

When can I resume sport activities?

It's important for patients to understand that the recovery period can vary, and returning to physical activity should be a gradual process. Typically, light activities, such as walking, can be resumed within a few days post-surgery, aiding circulation and recovery. However, it's crucial to avoid strenuous activities, especially those that involve the chest muscles like weight lifting for at least four to six weeks. This allows the body to properly settle and the incision sites to heal. High-impact activities, such as running or jumping, should be reintroduced slowly and only after one month after the surgery.

What are the risks of a belt-lift?

A belt lift, while offering remarkable cosmetic benefits, is not without its risks and potential complications. Like any surgical procedure, there are inherent risks involved. Patients may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and discomfort following the surgery, which is typical and manageable with proper care and medication. However, more significant risks include infection, bleeding, or adverse reactions to anesthesia, although these complications are relatively rare when performed by a skilled surgeon in a reputable facility.

Serious complications such as blood clots or pulmonary embolism, although extremely rare, are critical concerns that should be discussed with the surgeon and carefully monitored post-surgery.

Patients must also follow post-operative instructions diligently to reduce complications. These may include restrictions on physical activity, wearing compression garments, and attending follow-up appointments for proper healing assessment.
